Method Statement - Air Leakage Testing

This Method Statement , which describes specific arrangements for work conducted at the Client's premises, will be implemented to ensure that the place of work is safe and without risk to the health, safety and welfare of employees, contractors or members of the public, so far as is possible. This will include: assessment of substances used and work activities so that adequate protection may be provided; training for all employees involved with the work process; a system for reporting, monitoring and subsequent review with recommendations for improvement; full compliance with current  legislation.

Task Details

  1. Site Address: The exact location at which the test shall be conducted at the request of the Client
  2. Scope: To provide air and/or acoustic testing services at the site address in line with approved methods

Health, Safety & Welfare Objectives

  1. It is the objective of JSD Air & Acoustic Testing (Builldings) Ltd (herein known as JSD), to do all that is practically possible to prevent personal injury and damage to property. To protect everyone from probable work perils, which will include any member of the public that may come into contact with work activities
  2. To do this we will promote health, safety and welfare measures that achieve our objectives that are mutual to our employees and the Company
  3. Principle objectives will be to promote and maintain safe, healthy work conditions by providing training and written instructions so that employees are able to execute their duties safely; by providing all essential resources including personal protective equipment and safety devices; by consulting with employees on health and safety matters throughout any given task or project
  4. Employees will also be reminded that they are obliged to cooperate in our endeavour to implement and maintain the policy by conducting their work safely; following Company safety procedures and complying with statutory duties. They will also be expected to report any incident(s) that has led to injury or that could lead to injury in the future

Management of Health, Safety & Welfare on Site

  1. Whilst JSD personnel are working at the Clients premises the Test Engineer will be responsible overall for ensuring the Company's policy and procedures are implemented
  2. Our Company Auditor may, from time to time, visit a site where an employee is working to ensure that the work is being conducted safely and in accordance with company procedure
  3. The Test Engineer will be responsible for obtaining a copy of the Client's Health & Safety policy whilst working at their site
  4. All JSD personnel carry CSCS cards and may be veiwed on request

Communication

  1. All aspects of communication and information regarding health, safety and welfare will be directed through the Company's main office to ensure that all parties are made aware of any given situation

Reporting

  1. All accidents occurring on the Client's premises during the course of work duties shall be reported to both the Company office and to the Client, however minor, and recorded in the Accident Book held on site.
  2. In the event of a serious accident, notification of the relevant authorities, i.e. HSE will be considered

Control of Risks

  1. In the event there is an unforeseen occurrence (which could place the health and safety of people, property or premises at risk), the Client shall be notified immediately and in all cases the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 shall be complied with

  2. Our employees are actively encouraged to report to the Client details of any hazard that has been encountered and to make suggestions for safer conditions

First Aid & Welfare

  1. It will be the responsibility of the Client to inform any JSD Air & Acoustic Testing (Buildings) Ltd personnel who the First Aid person is and where they are normally located
  2. The JSD Test Engineer should be allowed access to site facilities should the need arise
  3. All vehicles belonging to JSD Air & Acoustic Testing will contain a clearly marked First Aid kit, which will be regularly checked to ensure the contents comply with the appropriate regulations

Training

  1. All JSD Air & Acoustic Testing (Buildings) Ltd personnel will receive training in the safe use of all materials and equipment used in the course of their work duties
  2. Records of competency will be maintained and are available upon request

Site Emergency Procedures

  1. All JSD Air & Acoustic Testing (Buildings) Ltd personnel will fully comply with emergency procedures, which should be advised by the Client prior to entry to that site

The Environment

  1. All dwelling plans shall be supplied by the Client prior to the contract 
  2. Our personnel will comply with any site rules and restrictions, which should be advsied prior to access to the site
  3. Rights of way should be clearly marked and visible, both pedestrian and vehiclular
  4. Rights of way will be strictly adhered to by our personnel
  5. Access should be made available to the site with parking provided as close as possible to enable the conveyance of equipment and materials with minimum risk to health & safety
  6. Where a work permit is required the Client shall notify us prior to the visit by the Test Engineer
  7. All working areas shall be made reasonably safe prior to our Test Engineer's visit and will be left in a safe condition
  8. At no time shall any hazardous or inflammable materials be left unsecured
  9. No special conditions are required by our Test Engineers
  10. Where temporary power is required this will be supplied by JSD
  11. All equipment used throughout the duration of the test will be P.A.P.S. compliant
  12. During normal circumstances it is not anticipated that the need for assistance will be required for manual handling of testing equipment. Each Test Engineer is fully trained in this aspect and will use a sack barrow as a means of transporting heavier pieces of equipment to and from the test site, however, access must be clear of obstacles and obstructions
  13. Any material used during the testing process i.e. Smoke Puffer, will be supplied with a Material Safety Data Sheet. A copy is available on request
  14. All JSD personnel are trained in the use of materials and are aware of the need to use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
  15. Under no circumstances will any waste be left by JSD at the Client's premises
